Thanks for all the birthday wishes – after a nice breakfast it took a very long time to fit everything on the bikes for the first time – always bring too much although we have never been on a 6 month long trip and a lot of space is used up with tools, spare parts and the bulky winter gear which we will use once we get to cooler climate – for now it is hot at above 30 degrees. We did not manage to make it to the coast and eventually found a small hotel in Melipilla. We found the most amazing windy mountain pass out of Santiago which makes Stelvio look insignificant – such a pleasure to ride and get used to how the bikes handled with all the gear. Travel is slow as there are so many 30 km/h zones and big speed bumps that the average speed is not much more than 40-50km/hr. We are heading off on day 2 and hopefully will make it to the ocean and camp for the first time there.
