We made it one day after my birthday to reach the Pacific ocean and we are very glad we did not attempt this the night before in the dark as the access to this hidden gem called Puertecillo Norte campground is down a very steep gravel road with tight switchbacks and it was not easy on our overloaded bikes but so worth it – a very small community mostly for surfing but there are 3 restaurants and two tiny grocery stores and the campground has flushing toilets and power. We set up tent and had pizza on Friday evening and went to the beach afterwards drinking half a bottle of red wine until the stars came out. Had a great night sleep in the tent and I got up early and went for a swim – the water is very cold but had to go in 😉 then warmed back up in the tent and slept in – we worked out how to get our new liquid fuel stove going after done trial and error and me burning my fingers 🙄. We then did our washing and were invited by a lovely couple for lunch – they gave us so much tips and info and marzipan Ritter Sport chocolate and we will go for dinner with them tonight. We also decided to stay a third night here and nur leave until Monday – take some time to plan how to get to Punta Arenas by end of the months. For now we will enjoy this place and go for a walk tomorrow to a look out.
