The morning started with a woman knocking on our door collecting the money for the night stay – we told her that there was no hot water and she came back with a lighter and turned the gas water heater on. We asked her to light the gas stove too and I hard boiled my eggs in the morning and Andrew had a warm shower 😉

We left at very cold temperatures and rode the first half of the total of 320km to La Esperanza where we stopped for lunch and had 4 empanadas each to warm up 😉, left one of our stickers and took pictures at the town sign.

Andrew lead the second half and the wind picked up again and the road climbed high up and we stopped at a lookout overlooking the valley, the Santa Cruz river and Lake Argentino. It was hazy and rain clouds approached but we left another one of our stickers at the lookout before riding into El Calafate and checking into our very comfy accommodation for 3 nights with the very friendly host Lucas who gave us so many good recommendations.

Lavender bushes were in front of our cabin and we went for a very nice dinner at Morrison El Calafate.
