We started the day with our morning wake up call from Vienna and a very nice breakfast.
Then we got some help from the very friendly guy at the front desk who spoke English to find a Western union bank to get some more money – that turned out to be a small mission as you needed an app first and set everything up but again we had help from a very patient young guy and we eventually got some more Argentinian dinero without the ridiculous fees you pay at an atm where we had tried a few days ago to withdraw money but could only get a max of Aus$30 for a transaction fee if Aus$15.
The next mission was to get a 3-way switch that someone had stolen of my bike – we are not even sure when that happened but is almost impossible that it fell off by itself. The switch turns the heated grips on and with the cooler temperatures we thought this town might be the last larger one before getting into the cold weather. The friendly concierge at the hotel had suggested two places to check out. Off we went to the first place, Motosur MTS, and I went in with a big smile asking for help and showed them a picture of the switch I needed. The guys came out and had a look and came up with two different switches that would need mounting to the handle bar and re-wiring. They recommended another place to try and if not we could come back to them. We went and checked out every shop in the area getting referred from one to the next with no luck. Eventually ended up at a motorcycle accessory shop with a Valentino Rossi poster but they were closed for siesta for another 40 minutes. Next door was a barber shop and Andrew got a haircut while we waited. While I stayed with the bikes, another guy came and recommended another shop up the road where I finally got a switch that fitted exactly into my holder but it was only an on-off switch which I ended up buying anyway for $9. We ended up going back to the guys at Motosur MTS who fitted the switch so it turns on the high heat setting and they also adjusted my clutch free play which had been giving me issues and I had not been able to get it into neutral from first gear the entire trip which was annoying and difficult at petrol stations and riding in traffic.
Throughout the day we had run into some of the Brazilians riders who stayed at our hotel as the guy who rode a Triumph had clutch issues. They also were at Motosur and had it fixed there and said it was expensive when they went to pay. When I went to ask how much I owed, they said it was free with a wink but not to tell the Brazilians 😉😂 With heartfelt thanks we finally left town after 3:30pm.
We rode along the coast to the next town only 80km away and decided to not push it for another 3 hours to the camping spot we had intended to get to but stay in Caleta Olivia in another pricy motel (again the only one in town with secure parking).
We had a nice dinner with a view over the ocean and a colourful sunset.
