After breakfast we waited for the rain to stop and researched a few things that needed to get done – first we wanted to get some clothes washing done and when we asked our host she said she would wash and dry it all for us for CHP 30,000. Then we headed back to the waterfront to see if we could book a boat tour but all were cancelled for the day due to the strong winds. We did however manage to book a bus tour on a Routemaster double decker bus from London for 3:30pm. We went and grabbed some lunch in a cafe that had already decorated for Valentine’s Day and we shared a toasted sandwich and a berry cheesecake and we left some love notes on the window 🥰❤️ We walked around town and found a Hardrock cafe and other touristy spots and oddities we took pictures of.

We then did the city tour on the double decker bus – how else would Andrew spend his birthday other than on a bus 😂🚌. The tour was informative and we learned a lot about the town and its history and saw areas that we had not yet been to. There were two stops where we got off the bus and had a chance to take pictures – the first was a spot with panoramic views over the city and the Beagle channel and it was crazy windy and we were glad that we were not on our motorcycles. The second stop was at “Laguna del Diablo” which is the only place that freezes in winter and locals go ice skating there – the name comes from the frequent disappearance of animals which was attributed to the devil having taken them although it is more likely they fell through the ice and drowned.

After the bus tour, we made two stops and I bought presents for Andrew – first a camping store where we got a gas cartridge for our camping stove 😉 and then the Suzuki dealer in town where we got a can of chain lube 👍 and the place looked great and we asked about having an oil change done on the bikes and booked them both in for Sat 10:00 am for oil and oil filter change 👍😉🏍🏍.

Then we had a lovely asada lamb dinner and desert and I told the waiter it was Andrew’s birthday and he brought him a cake with a candle and sang Happy birthday in Spanish 🎂🥂🥰

We then walked to the Ushuaia town sign past the shipwreck of the St Christopher and took pictures in the setting sunlight- a lovely way to end a very productive birthday 😍

Feliz cumpleaños, Andrew
