We had very nice breakfast with fresh fruit and scrambled eggs, cereal and lots of cakes.
We tried to leave before the rain started but by the time we had all our gear on including the wet weather gear and the bikes packed, light rain started to fall. We rode down the side street to the petrol station to fuel up and noticed the Kawasaki Versys motorbike we saw the night before was still parked there. Two guys in shorts and T-shirt walked up and told us that it was their bike and then they showed us why the bike was there – the back tyre was worn so much that it had caused a flat tyre- happened late in the evening and they managed to get it to the petrol station and then had left it there but had come back to take the bike home on the back of their Ute. We talked for a while and the guys were from Cascavel where we were going to, and one of them very kindly invited us over to his place in Cascavel. We exchanged Instagram addresses and WhatsApp numbers and we headed off in the rain planning to ride mostly smaller roads to Cascavel.
We rode to conditions and we rode through some heavy Brazilian rain storms – it did not take long until we were completely drenched and the water had gone through the wet weather jackets – the rain was torrential and did not let up – we decided to take the direct route on the highway and pay for tolls just to get to Cascavel safely and out of the rain. When we got to the toll booths there is a seperate narrow lane for motorcycles and there was no charge. We arrived in Cascavel at 1:00pm at our hotel and asked for an early check in – the receptionist said that he only had one room available for early check in, room # 666, and asked whether that was fine 😂👍 I gladly agreed and we were allowed to park on the second level under cover. We got to our room and changed into dry clothes and headed to the Western Union in town to finally pick up the Brazilian money I had sent to myself a few days earlier. The Western Union was indeed open on a Saturday afternoon and we finally got the Brazilian cash. We then found a nice café called Quiero and had late lunch followed by coffee and lemon merengue. We walked back to the hotel and Andrew messaged the motorcyclist we had met at the petrol station telling him that all our gear was drenched and we would prefer not to have to ride and asked whether he wanted to come join us for a drink at the bar of our hotel – he had to pick up his daughter and then they both came to our hotel – the bar did not have much choice of drinks so we walked back to the Quiero café and spent a lovely evening with Cappelli Cascavel and his daughter Ana Clara. We exchanged stickers and I am sure this is the start of a long lasting friendship and we hope to welcome Cappelli and his family in Australia one day in the not too distant future🥰😍🤗 It was so nice to spend the evening sharing stories, getting to know them and learning so much about Brazil from them 😍🥰🤗 another highlight of our trip ❤️

Love to hear from you
