After an ok breakfast, we wanted to leave early as we had another big day of riding ahead. When I put my boots on, I noticed that they were covered in 10000s of tiny little ants – I stomped my boots several times and hoped that most of them had fallen off and that there were not too many in my boots and pants 😉🐜
My cold sores had fully erupted and covered my entire upper lip and the inside of my left nostril 🙁🥺
It was a warm to hot day and we rode smaller roads which were amazing – the road climbed up to 800m high and followed ridge lines with spectacular views into the valleys.
We stopped for petrol and lunch at a family operated restaurant in Anchieta. A young guy named Matheus and his aunt welcomed us very friendly and we had the lunch buffet and freshly squeezed juices. They took pictures of us and our bikes for their instagram site and we gave them stickers with Australian animals as well as our sticker and we exchanged instagram details – such lovely people 🤗
We continued on more amazing roads and with curves and views – we saw a fire truck rushing in the opposite direction and got a picture for my brother-in-law. My bike has been playing up for a few days now and it keeps stalling at idle and does not run properly. We think it might be due to the large percentage of ethanol added to fuel in Brazil which is at least 27%. We arrived at our hotel where we had undercover parking and when I was in the process of checking in at the front desk, an entire group of guests just pushed in and they got served and checked in before me while I was standing there in my full motorcycle gear – hot and tired – I did not need to know any Portuguese, I am sure my angry face said it all – she did apologise 👍😉 We went to our room and after getting all the things off the bikes that we needed, we bought a litre of passion fruit juice and cold water from the reception as we were quite dehydrated and thirsty and enjoyed the sunset from our balcony. We walked to the only restaurant in walking distance near a petrol station. We saw a Kawasaki Versys 1000 parked on the centre stand at the petrol station but could not see the rider. We ordered the buffet option. It was not very good (or more like absolutely awful) – food was either dried out or not cooked through and I had been really looking forward to a caipirinha but they did not seem to have any mixed drinks 🥺 We bought chocolate bars at the check- out and walked back to our hotel, I had a shower and we ate the chocolate bars and I finished another 2 blogs.

Love to hear from you
